This year, Thanksgiving will finally be a joyous occasion for adopted teen Sharrieff Moore. For the first time since he can remember, he expects to celebrate the holiday with his entire family, The Southfield Jay reports.
In previous years, Thanksgiving was not pleasant for Moore. He and his three separated siblings overlooked the holiday due to separation and tragedy. Despite the obstacles that Moore and his family have overcome, he says he still has a lot to be thankful for, according to the news source.
Without any contact or knowledge of his biological mother, and with his father deeply into drugs, Thanksgiving was usually spent at adoption agencies for the early part of his life, Moore told the media outlet.
Eventually, the teen was adopted by Angelina Moore. He describes her as the loving and passionate caretaker who took him in. A year later, Moore's adoptive mother was able to take in his younger brother, Tyrone, age 10, and his sisters Roneica, age 12, and Camilla, age 9.
According to Child Trends, approximately 2 percent of unmarried women at any age place their child for adoption.
